In collaboration with Hope to Dream, we had an amazing opportunity to bring God’s love to the city one child at a time by donating 50 beds to children and families in need. Throughout this uncertain time, we strive to support our communities where they need it most. Here are some stories from real families and children that were impacted by your giving:
“I’m a single mom that is on a fixed income even more so now due to hours being cut due to COVID. I’m currently in nursing school. I live in a 3 bedroom duplex my 6 year old and 14 year old sleep in the same twin size bed. It has gotten too small for my 14 year old but I just can’t afford another bed right now for my 6 year old so both of them could be comfortable. She tells me everyday how she wants her own bed.”
“I have 4 boys and they have been sleeping in 1 bed with me for 3 years. I work paycheck to paycheck and I try my best but beds are the 1 thing I can’t afford or have to put last so we all share one bed. I just want my boys to be able to sleep peacefully and in an actual bed.They at least deserve that.”
“[My son] deserves a bed because we are a family trying to survive. He is a smart, lovable, amazing person who deserves the world if I could afford to give it to him. All children deserve so much better than we had. It’s so much going on at the moment life is a blessing and I want to bless him as well. We just moved and I couldn’t fit the bed and the mattress so we were forced to leave it there.”
“[My daughter] deserves this bed because she has experienced many hardships in her 14 years of life, homelessness being only one of them. She was previously living out of the county in a very unstable environment. [My daughter] is now temporarily residing with a family member and is coded as an unaccompanied homeless youth (UHY). She is actively attending school and excelling in her courses. She deserves this bed to have a safe and stable place to sleep each night, this is not something she has always had.”
